Making battery watering easy
Over-watering or under-watering your battery are two of the most common causes of battery failure. Over-watering a battery creates spills that deplete the electrolyte level in the battery, leaving the battery acid starved and inefficient. This can create a capacity loss that can only be corrected with an acid adjustment. Irreparable damage may occur if the battery is under-watered to where the water level drops to below the top of the plates.
Costs Associated with Watering your Battery 1 Cell at a Time
The maintenance costs associated with battery watering can be very high. The industry average watering time is about 1 minute per cell. This includes the time it takes to extract the battery (for most narrow isle equipment), open the lid of the compartment, prepare the watering cart, etc. For a 48V battery, it would take approximately 24 minutes to water the battery correctly. If you have a loaded labor cost of $25/hr., it would cost you $10 per battery. If you have a fleet of 20 batteries and your operation creates a need to water every week, it would cost you $10,400.00 per year. Watering a battery this way is costly and reduces the productivity of your work-force. Adding a single-point watering system to this operation would create savings within the first year of use and create more time for your employees.
Watering with a Single-Point System
A single-point watering device greatly decreases the amount of time needed to water your batteries. Once a battery has been charged and cooled, simply connect the supply line to the battery line, and the battery is refilled quickly, safely and effectively. There is no need to extract the battery for narrow-isle equipment, since the battery line is accessible without any movement of the battery. The supply line can be connected to a faucet or watering cart for convenient watering.
Benefits of the Flow-Rite Millennium System
Electrolyte Level Indicator
With Flow-Rite’s optical port, you can visually monitor the electrolyte levels within each cell of your battery without removing individual valves or drilling access ports into the cell cover. This indicator is very easy to read. If the indicator is black, you have a full cell; if the indicator is white, your cell is low. This indicator is completely independent from the valve itself and provides the only built-in indicator on the market that can truly be used to accurately verify cell electrolyte levels.
Flip-top Cell Access with Color Coded Tabs
Each cell has a flip top access point giving you the ability to easily check the specific gravity in each cell without removing individual valves or drilling access ports into the cell cover. The color coded tab gives you a quick visual confirmation to the length of the valve body.
Clamp-less Polypropylene Tubing
Flow-Rite has developed a patented tubing that is more resilient, reliable and long-lasting than PVC tubing. Due to the make-up of the tubing, valve clamps are not needed during installation.
3-Port Swivel Tee
The patented 3-Port Swivel Tee allows for easy installation and configuration. The swivel tee will rotate 360 degrees, allowing you to install your system with no kinked tubing and locate your battery fill port in any location on the battery.
Low Profile of Fill Valves
The design of the Flow-Rite valves creates a super-low clearance with the top of the valve being below the top of the inter-cell connectors. This recessed mount will keep your watering system protected from possible damage.
Works within a Wide Range of Pressure and Flow Sources
With Flow-Rite’s battery watering system, you don’t have to purchase expensive watering supply systems to regulate a constant flow/pressure. This system is designed to allow for pressures of 3-35 pounds/square inch and minimum flow rates of 2 gallons per minute.
